Teacherman. Your questions:

1. Lau did not promote/preach wrist roll/wrist snap. Why? Because he felt it could lead to top hand downacy. That meant that the hitter would have a greater tendency to hit a ball with overspin rather than backspin because of a dominant top hand.

2. Lau promoted a backward movement before the forward movement/transfer of the weight. This backward movement is exhibited in a number of the hitters he worked with ex. Carlton Fisk, Greg Luzinski, perhaps Carlton fisk. (See the art of hitting .300 video) This was an evolution of the toe tap we see hitters use today. See Josh Hamilton's on You-Tube (discussion).

3. Lau preached more transfer from back to forward in unison with hitting through the ball (full finish).

4. Lau preached keeping the weight back (in initiation), (See George Brett vs. Rich Gossage) getting to a solid launch position, and finishing high. Now the terminology has changed to loading back, radial deviation/PLT, and one hand release after contact (though Hamilton on his long hits actually is seen releasing his top hand grip during contact.
