Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Girls and rotational mechanics.
In girls fastpitch softball linear is by far better. I have been a girls fastpitch hitting coach for years and I remember when I was called crazy by many, saying linear was better for the female hitter because of the way they are built and reaction time. Now almost all of the major collegiate programs are switching to the linear swing. One of the major advantages over the rotational swing is it allows the hitter a split second longer to look at the pitch before committing to it. That small amount of time is so important with the short distance from the pitch to the plate in softball compared to baseball. I see a lot more rotational hitters getting eaten alive with off-speed and change-ups. So many people forget that although there is a lot in common with baseball and softball. In so many ways it is a totally different game. Just ask all the MLB heavy hitters that Jenny Finch embarrassed last year.
