Re: What age to start?

Posted by: Jack Mankin (MrBatspeed@aol.com) on Fri Jul 29 12:06:48 2005

>>> I have an almost 8 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. Jared, has played 2 years of t-ball and 1 year of machine pitch. Marleigh, my daughter, is going to play softball for the first time this fall (almost sounds like a late "career" start but she has a lot of natural ball handling talent). Should I get the video and the bag? Do you think the 8 year old is too young?

Thanks in advance for any feedback. <<<

Hi Pierre

At this age I think that just having fun enjoying hitting, throwing and catching the ball with dad is most important. Of course the better he or she hit the ball, the more they will enjoy the game and there is no better batting coach than an informed Dad. Pierre, there are very few well-informed coaches out there. The better your understanding of sound batting and mechanical principles, the quicker your son and daughter can realize their potential.

We have found the heavy bag works well with the drills in the video. You can find more information on the benefits of the bag on the Product’s Page, and I will link you to this Page.
