It doesn't matter how much bend you have in your front arm as long as your front arm stays connected with your rotating body. The problem that I see with too much of a bend in the front arm is that the arm disconnects with the body and the power behind the swing comes from the small muscles of the arm rather than the full power of a rotating body.

"the LAWS OF PHYSICS state that the greater the extension on the arm, the slower the bat speed... try this:
sit on a bar stool which will rotate.. have someone spin you around...after a few seconds extend your arms as though you are an airplane..what happens?.. YOU WILL SLOW DOWN. now put your hands back in your lap... YOU WILL SPEED UP!.."

This statement is halfway true. My angular velocity will increase but my linear velocity will decrease so the total momentum of the swing stays the same.
