HELLO TIM!

ICHIRO SUZUKI is the ultimate hitter.. say what you want, but the guy will knock your head off if you give him his pitch..
THE BEST THINGS ICHIRO DOES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO HIS SUCCESS RATE:
(THAT ALL HITTERS SHOULD DO)

1. HAS A SHORT BASED CLOSED STANCE UP ON THE PLATE WITH HIS HANDS UP & BACK BEHIND HIS LEAD SHOULDER..
a. short base means he will stepping forward imparting forward motion to his swing, thus generating greater batspeed.
b. closed stance with both numbers showing to the pitcher translates to utilizing lower body torque which will improve upper body torque, thus generating greater batspeed.a closed stance WILL DEFINITELY IMPART GREATER TORQUE THAN A WIDEBASED OPEN STANCE, WHEREIN THE HITTER IS ALL ARMS & SHOULDERS, WITH LITTLE OR NO LOWER BODY INVOLVEMENT, like so many "BUGGYWHIPPERS" IN mlb, WHO HIT LOTSA HR'S BUT WHOSE BA IS AVERAGE AT BEST, WITH A UNSATISFACTORY RISP BA.
c. hands back as far as comfortable & hidden from the pitcher.. going forward from the git-go rather than having the hands in front of the body showing to the pitcher, then implementing a time consuming dropping of the hands, a windup motion or drawing back the hands AFTER THE PITCH IS RELEASED IS A FATAL ERROR , resulting in the hitter invariably being late to the ball anywhere except down/in.
when you show your hands to the pitcher, you give him a "black hole"
to throw to.. a spot just inside & below your hands , where you cannot possibly get your hands inside the pitch, resulting in a fouloff or popup & at least an automatic strike one advantage for the pitcher..
true, ICHIRO is a hack.. DO NOT CONFUSE HIS HACKING AT SLOP WITH HIS SUPERIOR STANCE & SWING... THEY ARE SEPERATE ISSUES.you want to dismiss his 225 hits per year by pointing a finger at his OBP..
I STILL WANT ICHIRO AT THE PLATE WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE...you?
