So called hitting instructors usually don't know much better than the average man on a discussion board. For the most part a player has to continuously experiment with their swing and figure stuff out for themselves if they truly want to get better.

Very few instructors know what they're talking about, and even if they do know what they're talking about they probably won't be able to explain it in a way that correctly conveys what they're trying to say without confusing the hitter. Usually they'll try to dumb it down into a simple explanation that doesn't really reach the core of what needs to be done.
