I go to many games, and when I am at the High School parks that has me standing behind the backstop some 80-90 feet from the pitchers release point, I can pick up the spin on the pitches quite well. At College games where I am about 90 feet behind home plate i sometimes have trouble telling a split from a curve, and don't see the spin at all.
