The maximum distance for me now is about 80 or 90 feet. Of course it's been 10 years since I last played (AAA), and my vision is not as good. I never made a point of measuring distances when I played but I would guess that I would have seen the spin from a distance of about 110 to 120 feet. I coach a D-1 college team and I would guess the range for them is about the same as mine was. By the way, I can attest to the fact that getting behind home plate and studying the pitches is quite useful. At least in our league it's done all the time.Teacherman, if you really want to improve your skills, why not at least try it one time? . Maybe this will help you, maybe it won't , but there is nothing to lose. Some friendly advice: there is a multitude of techniques in hitting that will work for one person but not for another; if you dismiss an idea out of hand, you lose. If you work with different ideas, one thing or another will click and you will gain. Good luck to you and remember, be BOLD!

A note to Mr. Mankin: one of my players referred me to this site. At first I was not the least bit interested. I mean, what can you possibly learn from the internet. However, after reviewing your site I do indeed see some things some people might consider unorthodox. I consider them BOLD.My player says he reviewed your site a few times, experimented, and all I can say is that from one week to another his home run production doubled from the week before. When I have the time I'll take a closer look at the site, but my preliminary analysis is that you do indeed have a very impressive site.
