So, one can not cast his hands away from his rear shoulder, away from his body, prior to initiation of the swing?

Lateral tilt happens all the time. It is how the body delays the shoulders and aids in creating stretch. We don't tilt to get on plane and then swing.

The hips are opening before decision to go has been made. with out the lateral tilt the shoulders will go with them.

The argument was that everyone hits inside the ball and that the fence drill is a stupid drill. I replied that yes every ones hands are inside the ball at contact but some (not meaning MLB hitters) cast the hands away from the body creating an outside in swing slicing through the ball. To slow, to long and no adjustability.
