That nice, compact swing looks like it might work on inside or middle-inside pitches.

However, opposing pitchers with a bit of control will just start throwing to the outside corner, and you, my friend, are trudging back to the dugout with the bat between your legs.

Rotational mechanics allow you to adapt to the inside or outside pitch by slightly changing the bat swing radius. This is harder to do with a linear swing without reaching or lunging, and reducing your power accordingly.

And, as I'd noted in an earlier post, you might want to do a bit of open-minded reading on rotational mechanics before dismissing anything as "garbage"; there's a good chance you might learn something useful here.
