Look at Ryan Howard and his huge forceful backswing, it's no wonder the guy's hitting under .240 and is about to break his own strikeout record. When his mind says "swing" he is so far away from being in position to hit the ball.

A guy like Pujols who has a much quieter backswing will be more consistent because he is always so close to being in position to hit the ball.

Batdrag is actually more likely to happen when a hitter imposes a lot of top hand torque and forcefully pulls down on the bat with hit top hand in turn pushing the back elbow down and forward in front of the back hand which is what batdrag is.
