Using Gadgets

Hi All:

First of all, I would like to wish Jack, Batspeed.com, and all other contributibors to this board a Happy Holiday.

That being said, I do appreciate the time Jack has took to develop products--such as the Batspeed radar--that give the hitter proper quantitive feedback (i.e., batspeed). The bag also is de facto in ensuring that the speed registered occurs at the point at contact, rather than after.

Nevertheless, I find devices like the Pathfinder useless because it tends to addict the hitter to a mechanical device in order to ensure a proper swing plane. Even when in place, it is inconceivable that one swing plane can allow hitters to adjust to pitches all over the strike zone. Therefore, I believe that your latest invention can lead to undesirable proclivities in batting. In clearest terms, if the swing is fixed on a specific arc, how does one go about hitting pitches outside that range?

Overall, though, I am pleased with the ideas being shared over the board.

Happy New Year,
BHL

P.S. You will do well to develop simulation of swings while abstaining from any type of gadget that one can perceive as a shortcut to success.
