Dropping tip of bat Habit.

My son is 14 years of age and has developed a habit. When ever the pitcher is in motion and ready to lease my son has a tendency to lower the bat head almost completely horizontal which is forcing his hands up and back. Could you recommend drills or technics to assist in breaking this habit. His coach is telling him that his hands should not be that high up or that close to his shoulder as it takes to long for them to come around to meet the ball.
