To all:I do not profess to be an expert on human physiology or batting mechanics for that matter. What I do know is that I read all the material on the site, purchased Jack’s video tape, and immediately upon reviewing it, was hooked. IT MAKES SENSE! It is completely logical. I have been teaching my son, as well as the rest of his 10&U travel team, and have seen much improvement in each of their swings…and our team offense.

I have also realized that they need continuous work on the `heavy’ bag, as periodically they need to be refreshed. It is not something that you can see completely during each at bat, for each one, because it happens so fast. Thus reviewing swings on the bag lets you see what happens at the Point-Of-Contact (POC).

What I have also realized, is that even with practice, each one of 11 kids is slightly different in their stance, and approach at the plate (upright, narrow, medium or wide stance and strides, etc.). The only thing that I try to do is make sure that, from pre-launch to POC, they utilize rotational mechanics, with the spine at approximately 10 degrees from vertical. At or just before POC you should see the `L’ in both the back arm and leg.

My point is this: I think that everyone who has realized that maximum bat speed is achieved through rotational mechanics, should also realize that the human body is an incredible. Even with regular practice, it is not often that 2 swings will be exactly the same, as there must be minor adjustments due to pitch location, which is transferred from eyes, through the brain and to the body in just fractions of a second. Thus, after viewing the clips, the only thing IMO that can be said conclusively, is that they all appear to be utilizing rotational mechanics with their spines being stationary, approximately 10 degrees from vertical, and the center of rotation, and the back arms and legs in the `L’ position just before POC, or in the 2nd clip of Griffey and the clip of Nomar, at the POC (which is probably due to the location of the pitch).

To me, the `dragging the bug’ so to speak is not readily apparent in all clips. I do not see the back foot drag in the clips of Mac and Sammy. For those talking about the forward weight-shift onto the front leg during the swing, take a good look at Sammy’s feet. At the POC, his back foot is stationary on the toes, and his front foot is turned over far enough to see the bottom of his cleat!
