Back-side / lead-side

Posted by: Matt () on Thu Feb 23 14:24:30 2006

I posted a long time ago about my swing, and in addition to the
others, Jack had a rather cryptic comment - "I would add that it is
strictly a back-side swing with little or no help coming from the
lead-side". He didn't expound, and nobody else could clarify, so I
just took the rest of the good advice and have been putting it to
use.

In preparation for next season (I'm 38, BTW), I've been using a
swing-away in my basement, and think I've finally come around
to using rotation rather than just swinging with my arms. I have a
video camera hooked up and can get fast feedback on whether
I'm turning enough (and I'm getting very close!).

Problem is, with all the increased swinging, I've noticed more
muscle fatigue in my right (trailing) arm (especially bicep) after
some good hard rotational swings than in my left. I remembered
Jack's comment, and do feel like I'm letting my dominant right
arm do most of the swinging work.

Suggestions?

Matt
