Graylon, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the passion that exists in here. You ask,in my opinion, the million dollar question; "how would you explain hitting in words on the internet?" Graylon, as much as I think I could divulge in words on the internet, or you or, Jack or, whomever, my point is that hitting is not taught on the internet. I mean are there certain topics that can be touched upon, sure there can. But, in all due respect, what hitter have you ever come across that has said, he owes his sound mechanics and fundementals, to advice taken from a forum on the internet? Again, there's great dialogue in here but, when someone in here responds to a post regarding their son continually pulling the ball, topping the ball, striking out a lot, being late on swings, etc. and, the the typical response covers everything that Jack has ever researched, I think is both counter productive and, somewhat intimidating to a 10 year olds Dad.I mean do you really think that a 500 word post, containg a trunk load of information, is actually being applied? If someone asked you what a productive , simple approach would be to hitting a baseball, I'm confident you wouldn't say;"go read a book." But, that's all what everyone does in here, except the page is a computer screen.
Take care.
