Re: Re: Ideal Bat Weight for 13 year old

John, My son 13 yrs old 123 5'5" . He will be trying out for middle school baseball this "early" spring. I bought him a drop 5 30/25, 2 3/4 7050 Copperhead , $70.00 for this . He has used Demarini Vexxum 31/21 this past late spring. I wanted a stronger bat for the colder weather. Yes there are compromises and he has hit w/ this bat in practice. It does not have the pop the composit has but my main concern was proper mechanics first and a durable bat in 50deg and the 1" shorter size seems to be a better choice for his swing speed w/ the increase in bat weight. His reach on outside has been affected somewhat but he still can cover most. At this level he will have to face a very good hurler for him to need more length. When he now makes contact he is on the sweet spot rather than nearer the handle. Good luck to you and your son.
