Re: No stride!

Marty,
I love the no stride hitting style. I have taught that to my son. Some call it a stride cause all I want him to do is pick up the lead foot and place it down. Sometimes the toe dont even come off the ground. My son is like yours. He is tall for 11 (5'6"). I feel the no stride helps more then it hurts. some say you can loose some power by loosing your fwd movement (body) before you rotate. I feel that could be the case but you timming would have to be there.

I also like wide stance with the no stride set up. On pitches at the batter all they have to do is turn away from the ball (towards the catcher). Not stride into it.

> My son hits from a very tall stance with his feet about shoulder width apart. He effectively transfers his weight without a stride, just a slight turn of the front foot. The closest pro that I find is Ken Griffey Jr. Coaches seem to think he needs to stride. I, however, think that most kids overstride which causes their eyes to move to a lower plane. Any thoughts?
