In emphasizing shoulder turn, he would keep the bat head back by moving his rear elbow foward and hold that position to contact. I've found that by having him drive his right arm away from his body as soon as his shoulder starts to open has quickened his swing and improved his contact with the ball. The drill on the tape which has the hitter start with the bathead against the right arm, with the back elbow at the side, and turn to contact with the bag helps if you add the right arm extension to the turn. It's almost like swinging an axe into a tree.
