Wont SWING!!!

I coach a 9/10 yr old team & have a player that was a hitter in Pitching machine / & still hits ball -- soft toss & good swing hitting off tee. He will not swing off live pitching, practice or in game. He does not step out or back out he looks like he is looking to walk but he acts like he is just afraid to swing. Any suggestions?
