Melvin and Ricky,

You bring up some great points. Even though my son is not in HS ball or in a state that really can support year round baseball. I have seen the same teachings. My son has been playing travel baseball and so far only one coach has left his swing alone. The other coaches have tried to teach him to swing down on the ball. Make contact. That might be good advice with a fast kid, but not mine. He just doest have the speed to beat out the throws.
I wish the LL would make more changes and adapt to field, pitching and bat sizes like other orginzations. Then you have to really swing the bat to have success.
here is what AAU has for the age groups:
9u 60' base path 46' pitching
10 65' base path 50' pitching
11 70' base path 53' pitching
12 70' base path 53' pitching.

at 13u kids would be playing for there Middle school and then have to use -3 bats. All most all teams in the AAU here in NC uses -8 bats. I feel this will help the kids in HS.

Mike
