Dustin,

I think you're focusing on the results too much. Just have him work on his mechanics in practice A LOT (start with the basics- tee and soft toss) and don't have him think about his mechanics during a game. Just instill in his mind for him to get a good ball to hit and don't be overly concerned about the outcome. And above all, make sure he's getting his best look at the ball at all times. "See the ball and put a good swing on it."
