Much of this statement is questionable. First off the debate is not over rotational vs linear because both methods employ rotational and linear dimensions. Secondly, Lau's method does not promote ground balls. The emphasis is in fact on lin drives. When a batter rolls his hands over--common with the 'rotational' approach the ball has top spin and does not travel as far. The Lau method creates backspin on a well struck ball that promotes a longer flight. To say that Lau's method is a singles method fails to reckon with the fact that A-Rod is the fastest to reach 400 (A-Rod is Charlie Lau Jr's prmie pupil). Take a look at Hank Aaron. How could he hit 755 when he weighed 180 or so pounds. Notice his back foot is off the ground often at contact
