> I need some help with my 10 year old son.He swings in a downward motion. He uses a 29" 16 oz bat,he uses a light bat because he was swinging late at fast pitches,he has had some good luck with it but grounders only.Any suggestions on how to break him out of this and swing evenly would be helpful.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sit down with him and watch a game together. Particular pay attention to the 3, 4, and 5 hitters in each line up. These should be the better players. Have hime pay close attention to their approaches regarding their swing and finish. Some of this should filter over to his hitting. Tell him to try to emulate their techniques. Also if you have access to a large mirror, let him take some swings in front of it with a plastic bat in an effort to see what he is actually doing. This is a start.

(Also ask him to experiment by swinging up)

It would not hurt to have him hit of a T. In general if the T gets knocked off, it is a bad swing. Swinging down on a T will cause the T to fall over. Sooner or later he will get the idea.
