> I never thought about it untill a few days aga, my 8 year old son uses diferent bats when in the cage and in a game. His cage "cheap" bat has an 10 ounce drop and his "expensive" game bat has a 12 ounce drop. Could this cause long term problems or am I just being an over-paranoid dad?

You didnt say what the actual weight is. I would say stay with the heavy bat all the time. -8 bat for 8-11 u and -3 for 12 and over.
