> I never thought about it untill a few days aga, my 8 year old son uses diferent bats when in the cage and in a game. His cage "cheap" bat has an 10 ounce drop and his "expensive" game bat has a 12 ounce drop. Could this cause long term problems or am I just being an over-paranoid dad?

Actually it should not amount to that big of a deal as long as your kid can handle both weights. In the cage, (I believe) there is a tendency to be early because the batter is timing the arm which is consistence for the most part. Also in the cage you want to make sure that the kid is using a bat that he can handle. And it is better for the bat to be to light than to heavy, as he can always move up to make up the difference.
