Dave,

For most mortals, the thumb is resting on top of the index and middle fingers near the first joints, with the thumb bent on its first joint...almost like a fist(your term), but not quite. Remember, the handle of the bat rest on the fingers and not deep in the palm. More important, does it feel comfortable?
