Re: Re: first pitch

I almost never used to swing at the first pitch and during that time I prided myself on going deep into counts (3-2, 2-2, etc.). This year I began to swing at the first pitch more because of advice I had been given. I find that I am no longer going deep into counts and my walk total is way down. What is your perspective on the first pitch, especially when seeing a new pitcher for the first time?

Joel,

Are you hitting any better? Why are you concerned with how many walks you get? You know the old saying "A walks as good as a walk." Thats not an old saying, I made it up.

A lot of younger pitchers throw very good pitches on the first pitch trying to get ahead. So, if you are swinging at the first pitch you should be making better contact and getting some hits. Are you?

On the other hand you have five fingers. No no no thats a joke. Well its true but its still a joke. (please dont tell me that you have 4 fingers an a thumb)

But if you have become known as a first pitcher swinger may they are throwing you junk on the first pitch.

You have to analyize it.

But if you are up there for a walk I can't help you any way.

Joe A.
