My son is 11 years old and on a 12 year old all star team.My question is. He hits alot of grounders and mishits. He seems to be hitting the top of theball. What can he do to help correct??

Your sons problems may be caused by being out in front of the ball. When out in front, the tendency is usually to hit the ball into the ground (at least it is for me). A reason for being out in front is the stride being to long. The ideal stride for sombody your sons age is usually 8-12 inches. An excersise to try is called "toe - tap". Have your son practice simply picking up his foot at tap it back down say 8 inches away. By toe tapping you are only moving your leg. When your stride is too long, your entire body wheight shifts to the front, this is incorrect. You want to keep your wheight back or "behind your swing" as it is commenly put.
I hope this helps.
