Flexibility is so unappreciated by most hitters trying to get better. If I had to choose which muscles to develop it would be forearms and legs. I think a hitter could simply do wrist rolls and other forearm exercises as well as squats and get all the weight training exercise they need.

Wrist/forearm exercises put mass near the hands. The strength really doesn't do anything but the mass of swinging heavier forearms generates a little more bat speed than not having the mass.

I had to take muscle relaxers for about a week or two a year or two ago. I hit the ball very hard and it was entirely due to the increased flexibility.

Hitters really need to swing the bat regularly and do some limited weight work.
