Re: Re: little league baseball vs. girls fast pitch softball

I would think she needs to transition in middle school at the latest. We worked with 3 girls on their hitting and found if we got them more perpendicular to the ground (on their front foot) they became really good fastpitch hitters. I assume you are playing fastpitch. One of the girls was an OK hitter and a senior in HS. She had an opportunity to pitch for an Elite Gold Team traveling to Colorado - her Dad asked me to help with her swing mechanics. Her transition to rotational mechanics and getting her to be upright when she swung enabled her to hit D1 pitchers in Atlanta and Colorado like she owned them. She made the trip as a position player and was offered scholarships by many many D1 schools for her hitting. I don't think your daughter will have any trouble with the transition if she uses Jack's rotational mechanics and gets a little more weight off the back foot. I think this is due to the ball being released from a lower position. I look at it as having to swing level to the ground, whereas in baseball the swing is not level to the ground. This could be a signal to the guys on how to hit the submarine type pitch. This works for us but I have no scientific reasoning, just experience.
