Hi Jack,

I don't disagree that at times I'm parsing language, perhaps even splitting hairs, with you. Like Steve T. said in a previous thread, it can be difficult and frustrating putting forth an idea only to have people batter away at it. That noted, I appreciate your patient indulgence of my questions.

I would say this, however -- I don't think exploring your thoughts on the role of linear movement is a petty exercise. Believe me, I'm not attempting to locate the smallest of fissures in hopes of claiming victory. I'm merely inquiring as to some aspects of your findings that don't quite add up for me yet.

With that in mind, might I ask if you use the terms "bat speed" and "angular velocity" or "angular displacement" interchangably?" Also, would you use "linear segement," and "weight shift" interchangably? And, one last one, could I rightly interpret your last response to me to mean that, timing aspects afforded by the stride excepted, a batter could at lest theoritically eliminate all weight shift from his swing with no adverse effect on bat speed?

I know you have others to tend to, so a simple 'yes' or 'no' will suffice on the first two questions. A slightly more lengthy response might be needed if the answer to the third question is 'no.'

Again, your patience is appreciated.

Regards and have a great holiday,
Jeff
