Re: Do MLB hitting instructors know it all?

Posted by: Melvin () on Tue Nov 28 10:06:15 2006

I think it's a pretty safe bet that major league instructors DO know it all. After all, they are credentialed professionals who engage in daily, one-on-one instruction with eager students. Where do you think Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez or Garry Sheffield would be without the attentive work of their expert teachers? The factory floor, is what I say!

No, it's best to not challenge the acknowledged greatness of the professional instructor. We have them to thank for the the greatest advances in swing teaching in the history of the game:

1. Swing down and target a seam to create all important backspin
2. Throw the hands as hard as possible to have a "quick bat"
3. Keep the hips and shoulders closed to keep from "flying open"
