hi Joe > when Tony Gwynn first came up to major league baseball he must have been fast one yr he stole 50 bases. He was also drated by the sandiego clippers in basketball most guards in basketball are fast.as gwynn aged he did gain weight which must have slowed his foot speed but not his batting avg.He didnt have a over abundance of power. one yr I belive he hit 17 home runs the most he hit.He credited ted williams who told him you have to start tuning on the inside pitches and once the pitchers fear your power inside they will start pitching you away again were you like the ball .I think his life time batting avg is 338.
