If you do not keep your hands back all you will be able to do is push your hands forward into the ball.(weak)but when you keep your hands back not only can you hit the ball harder .but even if your fooled by the pitch you can still do something with the pitch .good hitters seem not only to hit the ball harder but get more cheap hits by keeping those hands back
