In my opinion, nothing will ever be as good as *good* live pitching. There is nothing like the real thing. But, I know for a fact that a good pitching machine has helped my sons a lot and is second only to *good* live pitching.

I hate soft toss and I think it is the worst thing in the world for teaching and maintaining good rotational mechanics. Outside of good live pitching and a good pitching machine, the punching bag is much better than (gag) soft toss.
