I've gotten accustomed to the length of that bat size but I've had problems too... some of which are probably related to slow bat speed from the weight. I've recently tried a -5 drop in smaller sizes (although I just recently heard it's not legal in my league), first at 33" and this season at 32". With both bats I've felt an increased degree of quickness & control but don't square balls up as much as I'd like due to the combination of lighter weight with less length. I'm missing or hitting balls off the end of the bat whereas I used to get jammed with the heavier 34" bat.

Ronnie,
Thank you for the advice.

The 34/31 DeMarini Vexxum was the first bat I purchased upon returning to the field. To me, it is the most comfortable of the 34" bats I own. However, my own swing faults and slightly less control because of the higher weight led me to experiment with the shorter & lighter bats. Just trying to figure out where the happy medium lies and make the best choice.
