It really doesnt matter where the hands start out, but they must get into a strong position during the loading phase. When loading, one almost feels him or her self stretching apart like a rubber band. It would be impossible to feel this stretch while the bat is resting on the shoulder. Also, freeing the hands up is hard to do when the bat is resting on the shoulder. I don't approve, but he is not my coach, so hang with um.
