hi.the way I see its about getting the fat part of the bat on the ball.not the knob end of the bat on the ball.which is just one of reason why I belive circular hand path is superior to the staight hand path .The circular hand path rotates the bat head into the ball right from the very start of the swing wasting no time. with the so called straight hand path or a to b hand path they pull the knob end of the bat straight to the front hip area.In this postion the bottom of the bat is still facing the pitcher and the top end of the bat is pointing at the catcher.but the bat head still has to be rotated into the ball ,so the linear hand path is a two part swing .they first pull the knob forward then they rotate the bat head into the ball.so I suggest rotate that bat head right away into the ball and that takes a circular hand path
