I have a couple of problems with this.

First, not every hitter steps (or strides) toward the pitcher. For example, Albert Pujols doesn't and last I checked he was doing alright.

Second, stepping at this point in the swing might be a little early and can throw off the hitter's timing.

You might want to see exactly what he has accomplished and exactly what big boys he is referring to.
