Take a look at this site: http://www.wikihow.com/Throw-a-Left-Hook-in-Boxing. Is this what you mean by a hook in the handpath? Although the setup of a hook in boxing differs from that which you discuss in baseball, I find that one can be analogized well to the other.

I am curious on whether my analogy accuretely represnts your position, or am I slightly off the mark here.
