Re: Reaching full extension

"I have recently started the CHP and THT and notice good torque. I am just wondering with that front arm "locked" into that position how do you reach full extension on contact...Maybe I have just always thought that extension meant extending the arm out to meet the ball out front and that I really should be thinking about it in another way?"

I'm not a big fan of focusing on extension. I think it's a cue that falls into the linear school of hitting, which I reject.

Don't get me wrong. I think extension happens. However, I believe that extension (which some call the Power V) is the EFFECT of a powerful swing rather than the CAUSE of a powerful swing.

In other words, you want to be compact through the point of contact and then your arms will automatically extend into the Power V after the point of contact.

If you try to extend through the point of contact, then you will slow down the rate at which your shoulders rotate and thus reduce your bat speed.
