This includes the understanding of driving systems to power motion in any particular process within the machine. The source of every machine's motion my friend will always be a rotational, gyrating, or circular solution. I have the luxury to use SW and equipment to view motion in a high speed machine in 3D and ultra slo-mo. I have used this to view myself at bat (in a cage). I can tell you, WHEN I TRY TO HIT LINEAR,
> I cannot escape the rotational dominance the HUman Body automatically executes. Joints....they were deisned to swivel up-down-side to side simultaneously. Yet people like you say do not use your body's capacity to want to rotate (swivel)-allowing the change in the degree in motion- and stay linear- movement from a to b.....

Dennis W. Thanks for taking time to let us know how as an engineer in the mechanical electrical field you are THE authority on hitting. As such, you should have written "The Physics of Baseball" instead of Rober K Adair.

With regard to natural ability it does make a difference as many majore league players did not have the polished swings on being drafted out of highschool as they do today. But they managed to put the bat on the ball well enough to draw attention and move up the ranks.

Ichiro, Albert Belle, Cal Ripken and Mike Schmidt are hitters who used linear components to be successful. And regardless of your technical analysis, linear components exist in rotational swings. But I can understand your willingness to poke fun at those who do not share your one sided opinions. In that way you can pay us all back for the instruction you did not receive as a youth so that you in your mind would have been all you desired to be in your baseball career when it counted. Get over it my friend and open your ears to voices other than yours.
