Way out front

My son hits the ball a ton. However, he consistently meets the ball way out front. I actually have a picture of him missing a ball where his back swing is half complete and the ball is just barely reaching the plate. Because he hits the ball so hard and consistently, I have been reluctant to tinker with his swing. Am I doing a disservice to the boy? Any advice on how to correct this flaw besides just telling him to wait longer before initiating his swing? Thanks in advance.
