The Top hand Starts the bat to overcome inertia, between initiation and contact, the top hand is really loose on the bat as displayed by Jacks Sand on the top hand drill which allows your top hand to move during the course of the swing. So, Tht gets the bat started and after that bht takes over. But just before contact when your lead shoulder pulls back and your back shoulder comes foward the hands really start pushing in opposite directions generating torque
