Hi Tom

I have always maintained that the batter must not allow the shoulders to prematurely open as the hips cock open. These are part of the pre-launch movements that occur before the actual swing is initiated. The premature opening of the shoulders leads to a lose of potential power for the swing and the problems you outlined.

My problem with the term “bypassed,” is when it is used in promoting a theory that energy from hip rotation can somehow “bypass” shoulder movement and jump straight to the arms and forearms to aid PLT, THT, “second engine” or other pre-launch and launch movements.
