Re: Getting Jammed

I tend to get jammed a lot. I am not swinging around the ball and I don't know why I keep getting jammed. I haven't hit the ball with the barrel of the bat in a couple weeks. What might I be doing wrong?

Hey Keith
Getting jammed can often occur when players first start using rotational mechanics. There are a number of things you could be doing wrong.
1. Standing too close to the plate
2. Not initiating the swing with the lead shoulder.
3. Uncocking the top hand's wrist prematurely which causes bat to cast out
4. Diving into the plate which makes turning on pitches difficult.
5. Failure to bend lead elbow and hook the handpath in time.
6. Extending hands toward the pitcher
7. Not having back elbow in the slot
8. Having a one piece swing, hips need to open first then shoulders.
My reccomendations are opening up your stance a little bit, land with the hips more open, and get better-faster bottom hand rotational pull.
