lose grip

when swinging i have noticed if i use a lose grip the top hand slips real easy but the bat accelerates much faster i don't know if this is better because i feel like my top hand is just throwing the bat at the ball at or around the contact zone my thumb hangs in there untill the top hand is almost fully extended will this cause a loss of power or will the bottom hand absorb the ball on bat shock
