Hitman, the shoulders DO catch up with hips prior to contact. At contact the hips have lost some of their "momemtum" whereas shoulder in nearing "peak" velocity.

I think this is one one the main points of Epstein's "torque position", except the problem with his torque position is that it is a position that happens naturally one frame or so after launch position.It doesn't need to be taught and in fact it is counterproductive.
