some players in softball walk up on the ball,does this foward shift hinder bat speed,or like baseball is it better to rotate

> What you are describing is slapping, the objective is a little different. The hitter "walks up" so that they can get a better jump toward first when contact is made, the swing is basically arms only. Rotational hitting requires a stationary axis, not possible while walking up to slap.                                                                         BUT TO HIT THE BALL FARTHER YOU WOULD PROBABLY JUST WANT TO BE STATIONARY THEN.HOWEVER SOME GUYS CAN SLAP THE ---- OUT OF THE BALL
